Social Program

Welcome Reception

A welcome reception for all participants and accompanying persons will be held on September 17th, 2006 (Sunday)
at about 6 p.m. on the conference site.

Conference Excursion

The conference outing will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday, September 20th 2006. We plan to go to Puchberg, the starting point of a rack-railway leading onto the Schneeberg mountain (2076m). If the weather is fine, a breathtaking view is waiting for you.
On our way back we will visit a local "Heurigen", where we will taste some local food and Austrian wine.

Accompanying Persons Program

For accompanying persons we plan several excursions. Depending on interest we will offer:
  • Sightseeing trip to Vienna
    • You are taken to Vienna by bus where you will have time to visit various sights of your choice.
  • Easy hiking tour to the "Myra" waterfalls
    • Enjoy a short hiking tour through the canyon formed by the river "Myra".
  • Guided tour of Forchtenstein castle
    • Visit the mediaevial Forchtenstein castle including the "Treasure Chamber" of the lords still owning the fortress.
  • Guided tour of the local resin workers museum including demonstration
    • For long Hernstein has been a center of resin production from pine trees. We will organize a guided tour to the small local museum which also includes a demonstration.
